The approval of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Public Library was issued to establish an international award for translation from and into Arabic under the name of the "King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation" On the ninth of Shawwal of the year 1427 AH, corresponding to October 31, 2006 AD, and it is located in the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh. It is an international recognition award that is granted every two years for distinguished works and outstanding efforts in the field of translation.
Award Foundation

Contribute to the transfer of knowledge from other languages to Arabic and from Arabic to other languages.

- Honoring the institutions and bodies that have contributed outstanding efforts in transferring scholarly works to and from the Arabic language.

The award is granted in six branches:
Prize for translation in humanities from other languages into Arabic.
Prize for translation in human sciences from Arabic into other languages.
Prize for translation in natural sciences from other languages into Arabic.
Prize for translation in natural sciences from Arabic into other languages.
The Translation Award for the efforts of institutions and organizations.
Translation award for the efforts of individuals.
Award Components
A certificate of appreciation containing justifications for receiving the award.
An amount of 750,000 Saudi riyals (equivalent to 200,000 US dollars) for each award.
An amount of 500 thousand Saudi riyals (equivalent to 133 thousand US dollars) for the translation award for the efforts of individuals.
Commemorative medal.
